A replacement LED fixture, fan, dimmer, sensor, or connected control must be planned as a product system. The exact fixture and paired controls need compatible ratings, support, location approval, and verified field conditions. Similar-looking products can have different drivers, loads, neutral requirements, box space, and mounting needs. AWC starts with the exact product package, then defines connection, access, and finish work.
Treat fixtures and controls as one package
Provide the manufacturer, model number, installation instructions, dimensions, weight, included hardware, and applicable ratings for the fixture, LED driver, fan, dimmer, sensor, remote, or smart control. Identify the intended room and whether the location is exposed to moisture or weather. Do not assume paired-product compatibility from appearance or brand alone. Owner-supplied equipment should be onsite, complete, and undamaged before the existing fixture is disabled.
- Confirm fixture weight, canopy size, mounting method, and clearances.
- Provide lamp, driver, dimmer, sensor, or control specifications.
- Identify ceiling medallions, trim, or finishes intended to remain.
Verify support, conductors, and control compatibility
Qualified personnel should confirm the accessible box, support, conductors, switching arrangement, circuit conditions, and the requirements of every paired product. Do not loosen the existing fixture or remove its canopy yourself. The written scope should distinguish a replacement at a verified point from added support, a new box, neutral or control changes, new routing, or correction of a separate condition found during evaluation.
Coordinate access and interruption
Define who clears the room, protects furnishings, provides ladder or equipment access, and controls the applicable panel or managed space. Identify the expected shutdown and any effect on occupied areas. If new routing or support requires a ceiling or wall opening, agree on the planned route and finish boundary before cutting. Confirm any required project review, permit, or inspection responsibilities for the final scope.
Finish the ceiling around the installation
A different canopy may expose unpainted areas, old holes, texture transitions, or an opening larger than the new trim covers. State whether patching, backing, texture, primer, paint, medallion work, or adjacent finish repair is included. Keep access available until the electrical work has completed its applicable testing and review, then document the closure and final fixture operation.
